Contact Sheet

My first portrait photo represents how others see me. Most of my life, I have been known to be serious because in certain situations I do react in that way. It depends on the certain situation that I am in and who is around, but in other situations, I can be the funny one in the group and make something out of an awkward situation. I used low-key lighting for this photograph because  it is intended to show a more serious tone.

I decided to have a harsh light on one side of my face because it shows more contrast and becomes mysterious. The placement of my hand was meant to act as if I was in class, this is an example of a situation that others would see me being serious. You often see students with their hand underneath of their chin in class, this gave me inspiration to do the same in my photograph. I decided to wear a white shirt while shooting the low-key portraits because it t gave more contrast and I knew that a dark colored shirt would be harder to create contrast. The eye contact was straight at the camera because it gives the audience a POV.

My second portrait represents how I see myself. I know that I am very different in certain situations. More than half of the time I am with my friends, in those situations, we always laugh around each other. This is because we make jokes off of each other and have a good time. I see myself as a funny person in relaxed situations.

I decided to have bright lights in my high-key portraits. This gives a less harsh contrast and a lighter mood. I decided to take a candid photograph because it gives a more relaxed feeling for the audience.. This gives a fun feel to the funny part of how I see myself. In addition, I wore a dark black dress on purpose because it gives more contrast but symbolizes youth and fun.
